Elected 2008
I have been a multi-sport participant for over thirty years.
Triathlon, Duathlon, Adventure Race, Xterra, ultra distance swimming,
cycling, running, and more have all been attempted along with Olympic Weightlifting
and numerous other sports.
Some of my certifications are: USA Triathlon,
USA Cycling, USA Weightlifting coach; USAT Referee, CrossFit and Russian
Kettlebell Challenge Instructor and Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Huddle Leader. I’m also a member of, and an official for, USA Track & Field.
Along with being an educator, I coach a High School bicycling team, Jetstream,
which won the 2008 Road Bike State Championship and the 2008 Mountain Bike
State Championship and series for both. In my spare time I coach a large
contingent of exceptionally talented athletes who compete in triathlons
from sprint to Ironman distances.
Previously I have served on the SMW Regional
Board, was a past State Director of the National Strength & Conditioning
Association / Texas; have coached at the US Olympic Festival, Pan-Am Games,
NACACI Championships; American Open and others. My Olympic Weightlifting
teams have won the Texas HS State Championship eight times and several of
my athletes have been selected for World / Olympic teams by the USOC.
My
passion lies with watching young athletes blossom, develop and bloom
into America’s best. Setting up a ‘feeder system’ for USAT
by developing youth is one of my goals.
Doug's current term expires in 2011. |
