Clubs Chairman

I have been actively involved in our triathlon community since 2001 as an athlete, and as a race organizer and officer (treasurer) of TRI-OKC, The Triathlon Club of Oklahoma City, since its’ inception in 2003. I have been a member of the Redman Triathlon organization committee since the race’s inception in 2005 and serve as its’ registration director and accountant. I am honored to be involved in both of these outstanding organizations and I will work as hard for our SMW region as I have for my local club the 2009 USAT Club National Champions and Redman Triathlon which has become a national event as well, hosting the Long Course National Triathlon Championship and Club Nationals every third year. I welcome all comments and suggestions from our regional athletes on the development of our clubs, races and our membership. I believe it is our duty to promote our sport to the average man, woman and child for the valuable camaraderie it provides and the mental and physical health benefits ancillary to training and participating in such a challenging sport.

I was born in Pennsylvania and was transplanted to San Antonio, Texas in my teens and later to Edmond, Oklahoma where I have lived for 33 years. I attended UT Austin in 1968 and graduated from UT San Antonio with a BBA. I have been a Certified Public Accountant for 34 years. I am married to Bill West and between us we have four children and five grandchildren, which will all become triathletes, I hope! Yes, that makes me pretty darn old but not dead. So while I am still swimming, biking and running (not very fast), I thank you for the privilege to serve on our Council and represent your interests.

Besides participating in triathlon, BECOME A VOLUNTEER at a multi-sport event or in your local tri club, it will change your life and someone else’s as well! Life is good, triathlon is better!
