SMW Collegiate Regional Qualifier Triathlon Course Review Clinic

When:

Friday, March 30th  4:00 PM-5:30 PM

Clinic will begin promptly at 4:00 pm. We recommend arriving at 3:45p to prepare accordingly.

Where:

Lynn Creek Park @ Joe Pool Lake-meet at “Swim Start” just beyond transition

What:

This clinic is designed to familiarize athletes with the course for the first SMW Regional Collegiate National Championship Qualifier in Grand Prairie, TX. At least one member (or coach) from each team is encouraged to attend so that they can share course details with other team members. Ideally, all members, particularly those who have not yet raced on this course, should attend. The course review will include:

  • Printed handouts for all athletes with detailed maps of the courses for all three events.
  • Visual review of the swim course (swim buoys will be placed before the clinic).
  • Transition review and practice: Swim out, bike out (and mount line placement), bike in (and dismount line placement), run out and finish line placement.
  • Group ride review of the bike course (this will be a slow ride - athletes who wish to are welcome to ride the course or parts of the course a second time at speed - please be aware that there will NOT be traffic control in the park on Friday, however).
  • Group ride review of the run course (again, this will be a slow ride - athletes who wish to can run/walk parts of the course after the clinic).

    SMW Collegiate Regional Qualifier Triathlon

    Collegiate qualification standards include: 1. Must be 28 years of age or younger 2. A full time student and/or graduating senior who has graduated in the fall/winter semester & 3. Be in good academic standing with your school. If you have any additional questions about this race or qualifying for nationals please contact Liz Baugher at eab5076@tamu.edu .

    Don’t forget to register your club with USAT for the 2012 racing season. You won’t be able to compete at regional or national unless you are a USAT recognized club. Register at http://www.usatriathlon.org/audience/clubs/renew-your-club.aspx.
